The AUC has approved Rule 035: The Office of the Utilities Consumer Advocate Administration Fee. The AUC considered stakeholder feedback received during the consultation and a comment matrix summarizing the feedback and the AUC’s responses are available for reference.
The rule places a UCA administration fee on regulated distribution utilities and sets out its determination and calculation. This fee will be payable annually by the regulated distribution utilities identified in the rule. The AUC intends to issue an order requiring regulated distribution utilities to pay this fee.
While the rule is effective September 1, 2025, the Commission notes that Rule 035 is only triggered if the Minister of Affordability and Utilities notifies the AUC of the amount of annual funding the UCA requires. Until this occurs, the Commission understands that the UCA will continue to be funded under its existing funding regime.
The rule and the comment matrix are available on the AUC website.
